Bumhudzo Christmas Party

Christmas is a time of love and sharing. With that in mind Royal Society Foundation Zimbabwe organised an eventful Christmas Party for Bumhudzo Old Peoples Home and Hospital. Bumhudzo Old People’s Home and Hospital has been a haven for the sick and homeless since 1974

Bumhudzo Old People’s Home and Hospital has been a haven for the sick and homeless since 1974. Run by the Salvation Army, the place is still a centre of excellence despite surviving on dwindling donations. Home to the old, sick and destitute citizens, whose social protection nets have been eroded by the harsh economic environment. We arrived at 11:00, we were welcomed by the centres administrator, Major Angeline Kapere at arrival. A guide was given to us to give us a tour around the Hospital. After the guide the guide we then began the Christmas lunch preparations.

All RSFZ members helped to cook the lunch even the boys. After it looked delicious and we served the old people along with the nurses. It was a day they got to sit back and let other people spoil them. Every really enjoyed the Christmas lunch and there was plenty of food for everyone. Afterwards there was music and dance, the old people who could dance danced. The old guys showed us a move or two, and so did we. They was great joy and laughter in the atmosphere as people sang, danced and shared stories. Some were happy to find people listen to stories from their youth and give advice
